Jakarta’s poor water management and infrastructure have let people (75% of the population In Jakarta) create their own means of water access. “How can we provide clean (drinking) water in a sustainable manner and actively integrate it into the city fabric?”
The technical solutions combined with nature’s grace have led to opportunities that could marry the idea of a water treatment facility with a public park. The building becomes an ambassador of Jakarta’s water policy towards sustainable ways of water management and integration in a holistic system.

This bamboo-structured skyscraper creates the antonym of the sinking city. It rises from the sinking city to bloom Jakarta into a sustainable condition with a clean water system.

It is divided into 3 themes, which are related to Man x Nature x Technology. The Botanical garden with a water treatment system on the first floor, to provide to visitors with a green recreation, surrounded by water. The combination of green and water is crucial since the roots of the plants are the habitats of microorganisms, who clean the water by eating bacteria from the dirty water. The middle part is the Aquaponics section.
The highest part is used to collect the rainwater, which can be used as clean water.
The goal of this project is to rethink Jakarta’s relationship with water in a manner that creates opportunities for reshaping its current state
