Resilience can be achieved through resistance to change or through flexibility.
The challenge with resistance is that it assumes the future can be predicted and the measures we take are enough. A difficult assertion at best. With that in mind, we aim for flexibility.
Using a prefabricated structural timber system we aim not for 100-year homes, but for 100 open-ended buildings that can adapt comfortably, without waste.
Easy to build, and easy to disassemble, the ambition is to create an urban culture that will last well into the second half of the 21st century.

The site is organized as a singular rich landscape, open to the city on every side and connecting the communities surrounding it. Reversing the familiar plan of courtyard buildings, here the landscape surrounds the buildings, creating a productive landscape for the area – with urban farming, water conservation, commerce, education, and daily life integrated throughout the site.
Integration of multiple building sizes and types affords access to all.
Units are open-ended and can change function over time as needs shift. While schools and offices are placed on the edges of the site, the act of learning and building businesses and communities extends through the entire site and through time.
