DELTA II

Siargao, the Philippines

mangrove information center
culture, architecture

Collaboration with Lokallab and the words From Lokallab:
ISSUE
Del Carmen houses the largest contiguous mangrove forest in the Philippines; however, the culture and livelihood are overlooked, and there is a lack of educational spaces for mangroves.

SOLUTION
The Delta Project aims to build disaster-resilient and multi-functional spaces in the community and educate people about the importance of mangroves.

We are currently designing this structure to become a cultural, educational, and informational center on the Mangroves.

We hope to strongly embed our Filipino culture into the design, and we plan to create the structure entirely out of materials sourced from the island.

With the municipality of Del Carmen and Kids for Kids, we hope to champion mangroves and foster a space where education and regeneration can thrive.
With our resilience center, we hope to boost livelihood and connect people to the culture of mangroves in order to protect it for generations to come.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Help us expand our network of individuals and organizations involved in the preservation of mangroves.
